ประเพณีบวชลูกแก้วของชาวไทใหญ่ เด็กชายแต่งกายอย่างวิจิตรราวเจ้าชาย แห่รอบเมืองก่อนบวชเป็นสามเณร จัดที่วัดชุมชนไทใหญ่หลายแห่งในเชียงใหม่ (ที่รู้จักกันดีคือวัดป่าเป้า) และเป็นที่โด่งดังที่สุดในจังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน · A Tai Yai (Shan) novice-ordination tradition — boys dressed as jewel-crowned little princes are carried in procession before being ordained as novice monks. Held at several Shan-community temples in Chiang Mai (Wat Pa Pao is the best known); the tradition is most famous statewide in neighboring Mae Hong Son.
